Career Fair 2017
Just attended a Career Fair held in school today in an attempt to get myself an internship, or more, for the three month long break after my finals. Although I did not know what to expect, I did target a few booths to visit, just so that I would not be too lost when I got there. So ya, Nparks, DBS and a few of the booths around them. However, they didn't offer internships though. So I ended up hanging around, checking out what others were asking while looking around to see if anything was of interest to me.
Indeed, I managed to put my name and contact details down at some of the booths so that they could contact me for internship interviews. There was even a booth there by "glints" which offered to help me source for internships based on our preferences and degree. Yay, hopefully they really manage to find some internships for me. Apart from internships, there were of course booths offering jobs. From what I observed though, most of those attending the career fair were there to source for internships rather than jobs, even for some who were graduating this year.
Needless to say, the turn out for the career fair was overwhelming, with long queues even just to enter the venue. As such, I also managed to bump into some friends there, but it was a really short catch-up, like hi and then bye, due to the large crowd there. After dropping off my contact details at most of the booths which seemed relevant to me, and for the others I was told to visit their site online and to apply from there, I decided to finally call it a day.
Hope that I'll be able to secure some internships for my summer break!
Classes are ending
It was only after attending tutorial today that I realised that this was the last tutorial. I had totally forgotten to keep track. It then hit me that my classes were probably going to stop soon with some of my classes having ended already actually.
Gosh, then it hit me. Prelims are really just two weeks away. Time is running out!!

Exam registration
Okay, so I've just finished the registration process for my upcoming UOL May exams.
This post will just be a note to myself for future reference.
First, there was the Exam Entry on the UOL portal after which the Exam Entry Form (EEF) can be printed.
Once the EEF is obtained, then the exam registration for the London side is completed and there's only the registration for the local exam centre, RELC. Payment is via the AXS machine and the completed EEF is to be sent via the RELC portal. Once the confirmation email is received from RELC, the whole examination registration process is then complete.

Countdown 2017!
Just a quick post here.
Am just back from my first ever countdown with friends(I'm quite certain this is my first countdown not spent with my family) which was spent outdoors and not in front of a TV screen at home. It's past 4am already as I'm typing this so I'll make this a quick one. Really ought to be getting some close eyes haha!
Met the usual group, JL, W and L for a quick dinner at Just Acia@Dhoby Ghaut before heading to get drinks and then taking an MRT to Bayfront. We were really just intending to watch the fireworks but not to join the crazy crowds of hardcore party goers at the more happening venues. So yea, what better place than the awesome vantage point atop Marina Barrage?
By the time we arrived at our destination, it was already crowded. While we waited for midnight to crawl by, we ate some food we had prepared and had a few games of cards. It wasn't long before the new year neared. Expecting to hear the yearly chorus of 10..9...8..., I was rather surprised by the silence which engulfed the area. Missing was the "countdown", likely due to how isolated we were perched atop the Marina Barrage, but more puzzling was the lack of cheerful chatter and well wishes among those around us. I didn't hear people wishing each other a good year ahead or awesome 2017 or what not. Instead, silence.
When the fireworks appeared, too far in the distance to look nice in photographs or to even be heard, I was suddenly aware of the reason for the lack of sounds and voices. Everyone around me had their cameras or phones held up, videoing the fireworks I presume. As such, every individual was as still as a statue, not daring to make a sound nor move for fear of damaging their recording. Oh wells, so much for getting out to soak up the new year's eve atmosphere. A rather interesting first countdown "party" nonetheless.

Starting school again
Yup, I'm starting school tomorrow and that means my holidays have finally come to an end! It's been a really long 3-4 months of hanging around at home mostly and not having to worry about school stuff. I'm now just excited to go back to the routine of waking up early in the mornings and getting myself all occupied with lectures and revision.
My lectures slots for this year's classes are mostly in the afternoon with only one class being in the morning. Still, I should make it a habit to wake up early and go to bed early as well (I'll try). The class selection was done during the SSCE a couple of weeks ago. I'm only doing three modules this year so the workload is definitely much lighter. I'll still be having four days of classes though, three days of lectures and one day of tutorial. Ya, why not have two lectures in a day so that I do not have to go to school everyday? Although I only had three modules, it was still rather hectic during the selection as classes were being filled up really fast. I even ended up with a Saturday lecture and had to camp at the site waiting to see if I could change that class. Thankfully, I managed to. I was also coordinating some classes with a friend which was why I didn't want to mess up my schedule again once everything had been fixed. That was how I ended up with four days of classes.
For now, I'm really looking forward to finding who my new lecturers are (or if I'd be getting any previous lecturers again which would be the best case scenario as they were the better lecturers)
After classes start, there's still the payment of course fees(locally) and the selection of modules and payment to the London side. And finally, receiving my new subject guides of course.

Plickers!
Heys, have you guys heard of Plickers, or used it before?? It is really cool! My lecturer used it for class today to go through some MCQs and here's what happened. We were each issued a unique QR code on an A4 sized paper. The QR code was in the shape of a square so each side of the square was represented by a letter (ie. options A,B,C,D). We thus had to show our answers by holding the QR code upright with our chosen option at the top and the lecturer would use an iPad to scan the QR codes in the room and our answers would appear on the screen. It even reflects the right and wrong answers!
This sure made the lecture so much more fun and interesting. I could tell it wasn't only us students who were having fun haha! Unfortunately, we only go through MCQs once every 5 classes so the next such session would be 5 weeks away. Really looking forward to it!
